Life gets weirder and weirder, especially when you add the celebrity news to the mix.  Here are are some photos from Vogue Italia of Daphne Guinness, the fashion stylist, film producer and member of the Guinness brewing family. Daphne has an obsession with armor which she attributes to the Surrealists of the artists’ colony,near Barcelona, where she grew up.

Salvador Dali was one of the most infamous residents of the colony and was understood by everyone there to be crazy. For example guests had to artfully dodge the lobsters in his swimming pool. Anything went, clothes-wise…people would wear evening clothes at breakfast time, simple Catalan shoes and hats, lots of brightly colored hippy kaftans, and a lot of French, tailored outfits.

Daphne's Surrealist leaning is evidenced in her jewelry design of a silver chain mail metal arm with a piece that slips over the hand. It is part of a four year project. She has also been trying to make a pair of robot legs-style leggings for years.

This seems to be the origin of Lorraine Schwartz's,jewelry designer to the stars,metallic glove hand  "gling" (gloved ring) for Beyonce.  There could also be some off-shoots of this prosthetic accessory with Miley Cyrus’ red finger glove which she wore for her singing performance on the Dancing With The Stars finale and Rihannas sequined eye patch worn in a recent performance. Selma Hayek also recently wore a coiled Snake Bondage ring in white gold, black rhodium and grey diamonds by Loree.  This retails for $30,000.
